This 7kW EV charger installation was more challenging than average. The customer’s existing fuseboard was located centrally within the house, while the charger was required at the rear of a new-build property within a development where neighbouring homes share external walkways and parking areas.

To avoid disturbing the finished property, EV Ultra cable was routed from the main supply externally. A new IP-rated consumer unit was installed discreetly within the customer’s private garden, incorporating surge protection and a 40A double-pole bidirectional RCBO. The Fast Amps Alpha 7 charger was then installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with the relevant requirements.

The customer initially thought the installation route might make an EV charger impractical. By carefully planning the cable route and positioning of the equipment, the installation was completed with virtually no visible disruption and everything was left clean and tidy.
